OK, the headline is somewhat misleading but I don’t care.
I wanted to get maximum clicks on this story not because I get paid for it or because I want to beat Soren K. for most views...rather it’s the best doggone 4th of July story out there today! Red, white and blue amped to 11!
Last Thursday, Jason Galvin a veteran with 2 tours in Afghanistan saw a bald eagle caught in a tree hanging from some rope about 75 feet from the ground in real trouble struggling. Sometime later after talking to authorities and having no other option he borrows a .22 from a neighbor "because it had a better scope" and proceeded to shoot the rope from over 75 feet away and just 4" away from the bird Back To The Future III, spaghetti western style!
After some practice shots to test the scope and about 150 shots on target, the rope was cut and the eagle drops safely through the branches on the ground. Not one shot hits the bird! Just crazy if you think about it.
The bird gets wrapped in blankets and brought to the Raptor Center Vet where he is checked and gets a clean bill of health. He is named appropriately "Freedom" and he survives thanks to the skill and calmness of a vet with some amazing aiming skills!
Jason's wife put up a Facebook Album... Go check out the amazing story and pictures!
Go Freedom!
