According to Pew Research Center’s latest data, the Republican Party’s image is deteriorating among American voters.
“Currently 33% of the public has a favorable impression of the Republican Party, while 62% have an unfavorable view,” Pew said. “Unfavorable opinions of the GOP are now as high as at any point since 1992.”
The party's approval has seen a significant drop compared to October when the Washington-based research firm did the same study. At that time, 37% viewed the GOP as favorable while 58% viewed it unfavorably.=
“The decline in favorability since then has largely come among Republicans themselves: In the current survey, 68% of Republicans view their party positively, down from 79% last fall,” Pew noted.
However, on the Democrats side, not much has changed in terms of favorability since October. “Currently, 45% of the public has a favorable impression of the Democratic Party, while 50% have an unfavorable opinion.”
The most recent Pew survey was conducted from April 12-19 among 2,088 adults.
In a nutshell, the findings showed that Democrats don’t hate their party as much as Republicans do. “Nearly nine-in-ten Democrats (88%) view their party favorably, which is 20 points higher than Republicans’ ratings of the GOP (68%).”
Could Trump have anything to do with this?
