The Donald has spoken…
Speaking to the Detroit Economic Club, the GOP nominee shared his economic plan, which looks to cut taxes on the middle class.
“I am proposing an across the board income tax reduction, which will lead to millions of new and well-paying jobs,” he told the crowd.
“The rich will pay their fair share.”
Trump said his reform will include eliminating the carried-interest reduction and other “special-interest loopholes,” which he admitted has benefited many Wall Street investors and himself.
“Our current tax code is so burdensome and complex that we waste 9 billion hours a year in tax code compliance,” he said. “My plan will reduce the current number of brackets from 7 to 3 and dramatically streamline the process.”
Under Trump’s tax plan, Americans will be taxed one of the following rates: 12%, 25%, or 33%.
The real estate mogul also spoke about international trade and focused on the world’s second-largest economy: China.
“At the center of my plan is trade enforcement with China, this alone can return millions of jobs into our country,” he said.
“The one common feature of any Hillary Clinton idea is that it punishes you for working and doing business in the U.S. Every policy she has tilts the playing field to other countries.”
However, the billionaire makes sure to note that he is in favor of trade.
“Trade has big benefits and I am in favor, totally in favor, of trade but I want trade deals for our country that create more jobs and higher wages for American workers,” he said. “Isolation is NOT an option.”
After being interrupted by protestors and hecklers, Trump continued by noting that he wants “well-crafted” trade deals that benefit the U.S.
“We are going to benefit and our workers are going to benefit or we’re not going to make those deals.”
The GOP nominee also spoke about business regulation and energy reform.
Pundits are now calling Trump’s speech “something right out of Ronald Reagan’s playbook.”
