U.S. Senators Won Big During Financial Crisis - Documents Reveal

In other news, documents reveal two U.S. Senators are linked to “controversial” Wall Street deals during the financial crisis...

“[I]t turns out two members of Congress actually made money from that crisis, according to publicly available documents,” said a Yahoo Finance report released Friday.

The two senators in question? Sen. Bob Corker and Sen. Mark Warner.

“During the crisis years, two now-senators, Mark Warner (D-Va.) who was the governor of Virginia until his Senate term began in 2009, and Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), who took office in 2007, were invested in a fund that appears to have made sizable profits from Goldman [Sachs] products that were designed to bet against the real estate market,” the report said.

However, the documents do not reveal whether or not either Senator was aware of the strategy behind the products, “although both have reported millions of dollars of income from the fund.”

CUE sigh of relief….
