First governments, now companies?
Geo-fencing. It is the latest tactic companies are using in order to enhance YOUR customer experience. Or so they say.
A quick google search will give you this definition:
In layman terms, companies can track your social media posts based on location in order to track what people are saying about their products and/or services.
Marriot Hotels & Resorts is the latest to use this technology to track customer posts and see if there is any way they can enhance a customer’s hotel experience.
Although companies reiterate that this is simply used for the benefit of the customer, it does seem a little intrusive.
So the real question is: was this service really designed to make a customer feel special? Or is it just another tool to spy on us?
