Retailers are dropping Ivanka Trump's product line. It's stupid, cowardly, and bowing to the #GrabYourWallet boycott campaign. But two wrongs don't make a right.President Trump responded to his daughter's misfortune by tweeting "My daughter Ivanka has been treated so unfairly by @Nordstrom. She is a great person -- always pushing me to do the right thing! Terrible!". He later retweeted with the @POTUS Twitter account which is government property. Is that wrong? Sure. Is it an abuse of power or just a father looking our for his daughter? Probably the latter.
A day later. White House staffer and Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway pushed Ivanka's product line on Fox and Friends. This is just an abuse of power. The Trump West Wing should not be promoting any business' products--we say that that is government picking winners and losers. It's even worse that Conway is pimping her boss' daughter's business. It smacks of corruption.Trump needs to learn that it's not enough to not do wrong; he has to avoid the appearance of any improprieties. Otherwise, he's just another swamp creature.
