LAS VEGAS - “I don’t support Trump but I hope he wins,” were well-known investor Doug Casey’s thoughts at this year’s Freedom Fest.
His sentiment seems to have been shared among the conference attendees. The American public is torn as to which candidate to vote for come November, and it seems like they would choose the better of two evils.
“Hillary is a total and complete disaster,” he told Kitco News following his presentation at the annual conference.
According to the best-selling author, he expects GOP presumptive nominee Donald Trump to win the U.S. election “because people are very fed up.”
The U.S. economy – and to a greater extent, the global economy – is fragile and about to enter a very “chaotic” period, which will be much worse than the 2008 financial crisis, he said.
“By the time the election comes around, I think we’re going to be in the middle of the financial storm and Donald presents certainty,” he explained. “When you have chaos around you, since most people know nothing about economics, he looks certain and he’s been successful, they’ll vote for him.”
