He is one of the smartest men in the world and yet he still does not quite understand Donald Trump’s popularity.
In a television appearance in the UK, world-renowned physicist Stephen Hawking called the GOP’s presumptive nominee “a demagogue who seems to appeal to the lowest common denominator,” as Politico reported Monday.
Known widely for unveiling theories while struggling with ALS, Hawking’s disliking for the candidate may be related to Trump’s alleged mockery of a NY Times reporter with a disability late last year. Trump denied such accusations. (You be the judge…see below)
During the TV appearance, Hawking also took the chance to speak to British voters, who are set for a referendum on June 23 to decide whether the country should remain within the European Union.
The physicist urged British voters to avoid a “Brexit.”
“Gone are the days we could stand on our own against the world,” he said. “We need to be part of a larger group of nations, both for our security and our trade."
