Prior to the Brexit decision, Trump conceded that he was unfamiliar with the situation and did not want to comment. The day before the vote, he claimed that what he had to say about Brexit was utterly irrelevant, adding that nobody should listen to him because he hasn’t really focused on the issue.
Interestingly, however, on the day that the results came out, he was in Scotland giving a press conference on his 1400-acre golf course. His response to the question about Britain leaving: “My timing was great because I was here, right at the epicenter of the crisis.”
Trump’s timing was great? The fact that Brexit is causing an economic downturn is quite unrelated to his sense of timing.
At the epicenter of the crisis? His physical location in Scotland is irrelevant to being at the ‘epicenter’ of the crisis.
Clinton was quick to attack his move by releasing an ad that targeted his reaction to Brexit.
The ad campaign’s message: “In a volatile world, the last thing we need is a volatile president.”
Clinton criticizes how Trump used Brexit’s woeful economic effect to profit for his golf course claiming that “when the pound goes down, more people are coming to Turnberry.”
