From Hogwarts to Panama…Where’s your magic wand now Hermione?

The Panama Papers scandal’s latest leak reveals actress Emma Watson may have been offshoring her Harry Potter wealth.

The documents show she had links to a British Virgin Islands-based firm; but her people are saying she didn’t use it to avoid taxes but instead for “privacy.”

As her spokesperson told the Spectator, “Emma (like many high profile individuals) set up an offshore company for the sole purpose of protecting her anonymity and safety.”

Acccording to the Daily Mail, the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists unveiled more documents, which showed Watson’s ties to Falling Leaves Ltd.

“Emma receives absolutely no tax or monetary advantages from this offshore company whatsoever – only privacy,” her spokesperson continued.

The Panama Papers scandal broke earlier this year when hackers leaked documents to Germany’s Sueddeutsche Zeitung from Panamanian law firm Mossack Foneca. Following the release of the documents, world leaders were put under the scruntiny magnifying glass for their ties to the Panama-based firm.

Iceland’s Prime Minister David Gunnlaugson resigned following the leak, and British Prime Minister David Cameron was also called into question.

I think Watson might be wishing she kept Harry’s invisibility cloak now…
