In the wake of Baton Rouge shooting of three police officers and three more wounded, CNN's Don Lemon brought Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke on CNN for a conversation about how to keep police officers safe. The interview turned heated as Clarke discussed the intentions and nature of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Clarke blames the Black Lives Matter supporters for the death of the Baton Rouge police officers, claiming that their recent protests have fueled hatred towards police officers. "This anti-cop sentiment from this hateful ideology called Black Lives Matter has fueled this rage against the American police officer," Clarke said.
Clarke has almost 30 years of experience with the Milwaukee Police Department with a history of criticizing Black Lives Matter. He has referred to the movement as a "subversive movement" seeking to overthrow the American government and "black slime" that needs to be "eradicated from the American society and the American culture."
Clarke is scheduled to speak at the Republican National Convention this week, but is already making headlines with his message as a vocally anti-Black Lives Matter law enforcement officer.
Note to Clarke:
Gavin Long, the 29-year-old man who was identified as the deadly shooter of police officers, was not affiliated with the Black Lives Matters movement. He also claims that he was not affiliated with anyone, as many have suspected.
