A barbecue restaurant has people turning heads as they walk the streets in Vilnius, Lithuania. A mural painting, by local artist Bonanu, depicts Russian President Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in an embrace, lip-locked. The painting includes the message “Make Everything Great Again”, a play on Trump’s “Make America Great Again”.
The painting quickly drew attention in the city as well as in international media. Co-owner of the restaurant, Ceckauskas, claimed that he saw similarities between the two personalities in that their egos are huge and must get along well. He went on to say that “America may get a president who will want to be friends with Russia”.
Once a customary greeting between Socialist leaders, the painting was a nod to a 1979 painting on the Berlin Wall of Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev kissing East German ally Erich Honecker on the mouth.
Media outlets quickly took to the Internet to spread the painting of the two. So far, no calls have been made to remove the painting. For now, we’ll wait for Trump or Putin’s reaction to the eye-catching painting.
