There have been many accounts of racism and abuse following the Brexit vote on Friday. People of different backgrounds have reported incidents of racist attacks and, in general, an anti-immigrant sentiment across Britain. All of a sudden, anyone who didn’t fit the typical ‘Brit’ stereotype was told to ‘go home’; unfortunate for London, who prides itself on its multicultural ethos.
People were quick to report on Twitter leading to a #PostRefRacism trend which compiled hundreds of tweets in days.
David Cameron has condemned “despicable” xenophobic abuse following a 57% increase in reported incidents post Brexit vote.
“The country would not stand for hate crime”, he told MPs.
