Trump continues to steam roll through the Republican primary season and as I hate to admit it, he could end up being the party’s presidential candidate. After a “huge” win in New York, Trump expended his delegate lead, sweeping the primaries in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island. But winning the Republican ticket is still a long way from becoming the President of the United States and if the latest national polls are correct, he could have an uphill battle. In a national poll from George Washington University, Trump is trailing Hillary Clinton by three points. Okay while that isn’t a major lead it still shows that Trump is losing. He would lose by 11% to Bernie Sanders. However, the data reveals and even bigger shock: 65% of voters say they dislike Trump. At the sme time Clinton’s disapproval is around 55%. Interestingly Sanders and Ohio Governor John Kasich have the best approval rating with less than half of the nation disliking them. Sanders stands at 44% and Kasich stands at 29%. A major demographic that appears to dislike Trump is women. An article from The Atlantic quotes a Gallup poll that found 70% of women have an unfavorable view of Trump. This isn’t an anomaly it also noted that a USA Today poll saw 66% of women with an unfavorable view of the bombastic real estate mogul. So even if he gets the ticket he will still have a major battle and the fact that he is not planning to change his tone any time soon, I think we can expect to see another Democratic president in November.
