Trump and Clinton are at it again….The latest, Trump has been accused of threatening to ‘assassinate’ Clinton.
Speaking at a rally in North Carolina yesterday, he said, “Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish, the second amendment,” eliciting boos from the crowd.
“If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the second amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know. But I’ll tell you what, that will be a horrible day.”
The second amendment to the constitution gives the right to own and bear a gun.
Democrats quickly responded to his remarks calling them ‘dangerous’, ‘assassination attempt’ and ‘violent.”
Robby Mook, Clinton’s campaign manager, responded: “[W]hat Trump is saying is dangerous. A person seeking to be the president of the United States should not suggest violence in any way,” while Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut tweeted, “Don’t treat this as a political misstep. It’s an assassination threat, seriously upping the possibility of a national tragedy & crisis.”
Clinton's running mate, Senator Tim Kaine said that Trump "revealed this complete temperamental misfit with the character that’s required to do the job and in a nation. We gotta be pulling together and countenancing violence is not something any leader should do," Kaine said.
Trump's campaign were quick to downplay the controversy, attacking "dishonest media."
“It’s called the power of unification – 2nd Amendment people have amazing spirit and are tremendously unified, which gives them great political power,” Jason Miller, Trump's top aide said in the statement.
Trump quickly tweeted:
Media desperate to distract from Clinton's anti-2A stance. I said pro-2A citizens must organize and get out vote to save our Constitution!
