Las Vegas -- “Turkey could be good news”, said media mogul Steve Forbes on the sidelines of the FreedomFest conference in Las Vegas. Forbes emphasized the word, ‘could,’ suggesting that the president wanted dictatorial powers. “He was going to ram it through parliament. He lost the election a year ago …[m]anufactured a crisis with the Kurds to create a sense of violence. He made it clear that he was going to be a semi-dictator,” he told reporter Daniela Cambone of Kitco News.
Friday night, news broke that military units have attempted an uprising in Turkey. Troops have been seen in the streets of Ankara and there have been reports of jets flying low over the city.
Forbes said, “when the political system is unraveling, the army steps in, restores order and allows for a new group of politicians and democracy to return.”
When asked about the recent turn of events in the world, he says there is a feeling around the world that the “world is unraveling”.
