UK citizens who wish to stay connected to the European Union, to have more job and travel opportunities are now seeking new ways to do so. One of them...through the Irish passport. To obtain one is simple: anyone with a parent or grandparent born in either Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland has an automatic right to Irish citizenship. Google Trends has reported a recent rise in the interest of the Irish passport.
One post office in Belfast reported running out of Irish passport applications while Irish passport offices in Dublin and London have seen long queues forming outside of their offices.
The interest in Irish passport applications is expected to rise as Remainers are hopeful to keep economic and political ties to the other 27 countries in the EU.
