Let the political drama begin.
The Clinton Global Initiative, former president Bill and presidential hopeful Hillary’s foundation aimed at raising funds to help solve world problems, is under scrutiny after the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) broke news that some of the funds allegedly went to helping their friends.
According to the WSJ, the initiative “set up a financial commitment that benefited a for-profit company part-owned by people with ties to the Clintons, including a current and a former Democratic official and a close friend of former president Bill Clinton.”
A slew of websites are reporting the news, with ZeroHedge (ZH) noting that a $2 million commitment was made to Energy Pioneer Solutions by the foundation. Why does that matter?
Well….the WSJ explained that the company was founded by Scott Kleeb, “a Democrat who twice ran for Congress from Nebraska.”
There’s more…
“An internal document from that year showed it as owned 29% by Mr. Kleeb; 29% by Jane Eckert, the owner of an art gallery in Pine Plains, N.Y.; and 29% by Julie Tauber McMahon of Chappaqua, N.Y., a close friend of Mr. Clinton, who also lives in Chappaqua,” the WSJ report said.
Oh wait…and more…
Not only did Energy Pioneer get $2 million dollars through the initiative, but ZH pointed out that Bill Clinton also endorsed the company to then Energy Sec. Steven Chu for a grant.
I wonder how this is going to play out. Maybe the Donald will have a field day on Twitter with this. Until now, he hasn’t commented on the matter. Neither have Hill nor Bill.
But others did, including the Donald's son...
