Immigration policy has become the hot topic again, especially after Republican presumptive nominee Donald Trump's remarks following the tragic shooting in Orlando last weekend. His concern, if I understood correctly, is that the United States is not strict enough on its immigration laws, especially towards refugees coming from the war-torn Middle Eastern countries and who could potentially be members of violent extremist groups.
But is the U.S. really letting refugees -- as he put it -- "pour" into the country? Not quite, at least not compared to the figures in the 1980s.
The Migration Policy Institute compiled U.S. immigration data into a chart. Take a look for yourself..
