Arguably the most ludicrous and unexpected U.S. presidential elections is closely coming to an end, with the American public set to find out who will be the next leader in just one week.
While voters struggle to decide on which presidential candidate to vote for, some major companies and lobbyist have already made up their minds. Below is a Statista chart of the major donors to both candidates’ campaigns.
Republican candidate Donald Trump attracted most funds from major coal companies Murray Energy and Alliance Resource Partners as well as from the U.S. Department of Defense.
Meanwhile, Democratic rival Hillary Clinton got most of her funds from the University of California, Alphabet Inc. – aka Google – and the political action committee (PAC) for pro-choice Democratic female candidates: EMILY’s list.
“Please note that the money came from the organizations' PACs; their individual members, employees or owners; and those individuals' immediate families, as noted by the Center for Responsive Politics,” read the Statista report.
CRP added, “At the federal level, the organizations themselves did not donate, as they are prohibited by law from doing so.”
