It was the first time that Melania Trump, Donald Trump’s third wife and potential First Lady, came on the stage to deliver a speech on a political platform. She impressed many delegates inside the arena, with many cheers and applause during her speech. Describing her upbringing and family values, she delivered her speech with confidence and composure. One delegate’s response was, "I actually think she could be Trump's secret weapon,” while another went as far to say, "She showed Mr. Trump has a softer side."
However, within hours, the speech made its way to social media, and not in a good way. It appeared that a number of lines delivered by Melania Trump were taken word for word from a speech Michelle Obama delivered at the 2008 Democratic convention.

Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort said it was “just absurd” to claim that Melania Trump plagiarized Michelle Obama’s speech.
“There’s no cribbing of Michelle Obama’s speech,” he told CNN, adding “there’s no feeling on her part that she did it.” He suggested that she was simply using “words that are common words”.
